Because of the military coup, thousands of families have been forced from their villages, including countless school-aged children. As a result, many schools have been closed throughout the country given junta hostilities or their curriculums shortened due to a lack of teachers. In some cases, education facilities have been occupied by junta forces. The education of a generation of children is being lost. This is a pivotal time for an organization to help support a declining education system in Myanmar. We have outlined below a plan for assisting in the education of these children which we have already successfully implemented in an undisclosed area. We believe we can replicate this effort in other locations with the necessary financial support detailed below.

Purposes:

1. To supplement children’s education in the government schools which remain open with tutoring sessions which also includes exposure to Christian values and beliefs;
2. To provide a basic education including an exposure to Christian values and beliefs in areas experiencing regular attacks by junta forces and the schools have been closed, and the need for classes is a priority expressed by the parents

Where: Our priority is the many rural villages throughout Myanmar where schools have been closed because of junta hostilities

By whom: Our Fellowship Coordinators in collaboration with our house church leaders in interested areas will organize an effort to include unemployed but certified teachers to develop and conduct an educational program

For: The education program is open to any school-age child, whether Buddhist or Christian

How many: Presently, this program is underway in only one location; however, many schools have closed because of escalating junta-driven hostilities, therefore, there are plenty of opportunities to reach young people with the Gospel through a Christ-centered curriculum
