A War Within a War: The Humanitarian Battle in Myanmar
Love For Myanmar Ministries Update
Christ Centered, Servant Hearted, Myanmar Focused
“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”
Romans 12:10
Si vis pacem, para bellum — “If you want peace, prepare for war.”
But what happens in a country where the people overwhelmingly desire peace, and the very army meant to protect them instead wages war against its own citizens?
This is Myanmar.
Now entering its fifth year, the military coup has unleashed relentless violence on civilians — not to defend the nation, but to control it. Villages have been bombed, homes destroyed, hospitals struck, schools shuttered, and families forced to flee into jungles and caves simply to survive.
The scale of this humanitarian crisis is staggering:
- Nearly 90,000 lives lost since the coup
- Over 3.6 million people displaced, many living without shelter
- More than 100,000 homes damaged, with 24,000 completely destroyed
- 67 hospitals attacked among more than 2,000 airstrikes on civilian targets
- Nearly half the population now living below the poverty line
This is not collateral damage. This is intentional devastation.
But LFM exists to make a difference. Keep reading to learn more about how your generosity has impacted the people of Myanmar.

How You Are Helping Fight the Humanitarian Battle
While the junta wages war with bombs and blockades, Love for Myanmar is fighting with compassion, presence, and persistence.
Because of your prayers and generosity, this is what has been accomplished in the midst of the humanitarian crisis:
Meeting Immediate Survival Needs
Through the Blessed And Giving (BAG) food distribution program, 1,140 families — including 3,204 children — received more than 41,000 meals, helping families endure daily hunger. In addition, monthly meal services continue for all patients in leprosy hospitals, where food insecurity remains constant.
Our emergency relief teams made 96 trips across Myanmar, delivering survival supplies to communities impacted by earthquakes, floods, and junta-led arson and bombing attacks on villages.
These efforts are often carried out quietly and at great personal risk — but they keep families alive.
Preserving Stability and Community
Despite ongoing hostilities, two schools continue to operate for 78 students (K–9), providing education through a blended Christian curriculum in places where schooling has been disrupted or destroyed.
Through our Chaplain Ministry, 120 individual patient visits were conducted in a leprosy hospital, along with 24 outreach events in leprosy villages, sharing the Gospel and offering spiritual care to those long marginalized.
We also initiated a widows ministry, creating a regular, safe space for women to share their burdens and receive spiritual encouragement in a culture where widows are often isolated.
Protecting the Most Vulnerable
Your support has enabled LFM to care for more than 100 children across five Christian homes, providing consistent food, shelter, and love. These children received 50 medical visits, including multiple surgical procedures, along with school supplies, backpacks, and umbrellas — practical care that restores dignity and normalcy.
This is not temporary relief. This is sustained care amid chaos.

Thank You for Making This Possible
None of the progress we make happens without you.
Your faithfulness has allowed Love for Myanmar to respond to the humanitarian war without discrimination — serving Buddhist families, Christian families, and those of no faith at all.
Hunger does not ask what you believe. And neither does love.
This is how the humanitarian battle is being fought:
with food instead of fear,
with care instead of cruelty,
with faithfulness instead of force.
