Love For Myanmar Ministries Update

Christ Centered, Servant Hearted, Myanmar Focused

“For how can I bear to see disaster fall on my people?” Esther 8:6

If we will risk seeing the world through God’s eyes, perhaps the sorrows and worries of our own will be overcome by the joy of lessening someone else’s despair. It is in those quiet, unassuming moments that the elemental beauty of our Christianity can help recalibrate someone’s life.

There is a clearing in each of our hearts for considering the existence of God. Its development and movement has its own mysterious unfolding for each of us. It is in this clearing where our spiritual curiosity paces wanting to know who we are, why we are here, and what is the key to a fulfilling life?

Too many Christians are choosing to be a safe distance from being spiritually relevant; prioritizing our comfort over the courage to step into the unknown. One of the cornerstones of Christianity is that our personal transformation should drive us to willingly act courageously to share our joy with others. By voicing the difference following Jesus Christ has made in our lives, we can set free countless others from their bondage of hopelessness. Isn’t making a meaningful difference in someone’s eternity worth the risk of possible criticism?

Too often we forget that whatever risk we decide to take will be in the strength of the Holy Spirit. God will provide you with the inner strength, the words, and the thoughts to help those who are in need of a glimmer of light in their world. Unmute your joy at being a Christian, and act courageously knowing God will equip you and guide you.

It is time for Christians to work through their fear of persecution, and reclaim themselves as God’s instruments for reorienting our world towards His grace, mercy, and love. Let’s not allow fear to lead any longer.

  1. The junta has been demanding money from displaced residents returning to their homes in areas under their control. Amounts collected are based on how many are in your household, how many animals you have such as cows, goats and pigs with each having its own price. Imagine being charged to re-enter your neighborhood to re-occupy your own home after your government bombed the area.
  2. The junta has announced that users of any device connected to telecommunication networks must register their International Mobile Equipment Identity or risk service termination. Users of mobile phones, tablets and notebooks have to register their devices’ IMEI codes at the junta’s Central Equipment Identity Register, and pay taxes to the State.
  3. Recently, five Let L410-UVP E20 Turbolet aircraft, manufactured by a Czech company have been delivered to Myanmar and later commissioned into its air force. The Czech government has publicly claimed that the aircraft were supplied to Myanmar Airways International (MAI) for civilian use; however, evidence disputes this claim.
  4. The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners has documented that at least 22,818 citizens remain in detention for opposing the military coup on February. 1, 2021. Other sources have shared that 379 churches have been destroyed since the coup started and 259 pastors and congregants killed while sheltering in places of worship.
  5. Myanmar is also the only member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to have received supplies of Su-30SME fourth-generation fighter jets and advanced Mi-38T helicopters from Russia. Now Roscosmos—another state corporation serving as Russia’s space agency—is preparing to build an Earth terminal for satellite communication in Myanmar, allowing the military to connect more easily with the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) controlled by Russia’s defence ministry. The Myanmar junta’s adoption of GLONASS and plan to host one of its ground stations is consistent with their aim from the beginning: not security against foreign threats, but more effective suppression of resistance from opponents within Myanmar.
  6. Myanmar surpassed Syria, Afghanistan, and Ukraine to record the highest number of landmine and unexploded ordnance casualties worldwide for two consecutive years. Over 9,000 people in Myanmar died from landmines and unexploded ordnance in the recent five-year period.
  7. The junta took villagers as hostages, beat them, and killed them by placing them in target areas such as a monastery in the Bago Region’s Nyaunglebin Township. Dozens were killed during the raids by junta artillery and aerial assaults.
  8. China is erecting steel and concrete fences far inside its border with the Kachin State and Shan State. Rivers and streams that once marked natural boundary lines have now effectively been absorbed into Chinese territory.
