“Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.” Rick Warren
Humility, a word that hits our culture with a thud! It is an idea which we would prefer to be confined to the back roads of our minds. It handcuffs our desires and assigns our pride to the other side of our heart.
As you leaf through your days, would you discover that humility was an appropriate part of your encounters with others or was it completely neglected thinking nothing of importance could be expected from it?
We are missing an entire region of our Christianity when we willfully turn a blind eye to being humble. How can we expect to be a complete Christian without humility? Take the time to run your gaze over your recent behavior with others. Did pride or humility determine the shape of your experiences?
It is the friendly whispers of humility that can tame the wild voices of pride and provide your soul with a restful place. Being humble summons the full authority of God over your compulsions to “be right”, to honor others dignity over your ego.
