Van Hoe Lian and His Spiritual Journey

This blog is a continuation of our most recent blog entry dated December 4th where we introduced Van Hoe Lian, a Love For Myanmar Neighbourhood School Teacher.  In this entry we learn of his spiritual background.

As previously mentioned, I have Godly parents and through their teaching, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal lord and saviour since my childhood. I have an assurance of salvation based on the finished Van Hoe Lianwork of Christ for eternity, not on my human attempts and good deeds. I always accompanied godly people. In that manner, my life was shaped into a better Christian character. Indeed, I have a strong conviction in my heart both through the reading of God’s word and my parent’s prayers that I am called to God’s service.  I always give thanks to God for giving such godly Dad and Mom.

Education background
I am high school graduated. I studied God’s word in Biblical School of Theology, which Dr. Timothy Mang is president, in Yangon, Myanmar. By the Grace of God I could completed my B.th course and graduated in 2010.  After one years of my graduation, knowing that I had a great desire   to have the deeper knowledge of God’s word I went to India ( South India Baptist Bible College and Seminary) for further study. Then I completed Master of Arts in Biblical studies in 2013.

Ministry background
When I was fifteen years old, I began teaching children in Sunday school in my local church. When I was 16 years old, I enrolled into Biblical School of Theology (B.S.T). While I was doing my Bachelor of Theology, I actively get involved in evangelism. In every summer vacation, three of my friends and I would go house-to-house, village-to-village sharing the gospel, preaching God’s word and sharing gospel tracts on the bus and to market. Sometimes we conduct evangelistic meetings, campaign, and crusade to the unreached people at the remote areas.  I had a privileged to visit over 20 villages, towns and cities in the middle part of Myanmar.  After completion of my B.th, I involved in ministry among Buddhist community for one year. Then I went for further study in India.
Through my daily Christian ministry experiences and the study of God’s word, I become to be more heavily burdened for the lost souls in my country. My country, Myanmar is a Buddhist country. Its population is around 60 millions. Christianity (including Roman Catholic) is only around 6% of its population. Buddhist 86%, Muslim 3.8%, Hindu 0.5%, Animist 1.4%. It has been more than 200 years since Judson came to preach the Gospel in Myanmar. There are 7 divisions and 7 states in it. Many people are dying every day without the Gospel.  My only desire is to let my people hear the gospel and to see churches planted in these divisions and states. Even though the government looks very strict to preach the gospel of Jesus but the hearts of the people are always open for the gospel! Amen.
